Fed: NAPLAN leads to improved education outcomes: Wildy

A leading Australian educator says national assessment programs help improve education outcomes.

University of Western Australia Dean of Education .. Professor HELEN WILDY .. says
when teachers use comparable information on student achievement .. they are able to improve
teaching, learning and school management.

Prof WILDY has praised the federal government's National Assessment Program Literacy
and Numeracy .. and the WA Literacy and Numeracy Assessment in a statement.

She says the powerful overview of school performance allows school leaders to address
weaknesses highlighted by the results .. and to see their achievements in context.

Labor has asked all states and territories to rank schools' performances using NAPLAN
data later this year.
