NSW: Deported man arrested at Sydney airport over abduction
SYDNEY, April 3 AAP - Detectives have arrested a man wanted over an alleged child kidnapping
when he arrived at Sydney's international airport.
The 39-year-old man from Mosman, on Sydney's North Shore, in flew in from Thailand
about 9.30pm (AEST) tonight after being deported by Thai authorities, NSW police said.
He is suspected of being involved in the abduction of a two-year-old girl from Sydney
in October last year.
Royal Thai police, cooperating with Australian authorities and Interpol, arrested the
man as he entered a Phuket motel with the child on March 23.
The toddler, who is now three years old, was reunited with her mother in Thailand after
the arrest. The pair have since returned to Australia.
Tonight the man is in custody at the Sydney Police Centre at Surry Hills.
