Disabled former minesweeper rescued off Tasmania
A disabled former minesweeping ship has been rescued off Tasmania's east coast.
The 47 metre Curlew, with nine people on board, developed engine and steering problems overnight.
The tug Kiera left Triabunna early today to take it in tow.
GRAEME PHILLIPS, general manager of North Western Shipping and Towage which owns the
Kiera, says the Curlew will arrive in Triabunna soon.
A spokesman for Marine and Safety Tasmania says the Curlew was never in serious danger.
