NSW: Coroner terminates inquest

A coroner has terminated an inquest into the stabbing murders of three members of a
Sydney family in 1993 ruling that a known person has committed an indictable offence.

Coroner Dr ELWYN ELMS has referred the matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The termination came after surviving son JEFFREY GILHAM gave evidence before Sydney's
Glebe Coroner's Court today.

The bodies of JEFFREY GILHAM'S father STEVEN GILHAM, 58, and his mother HELEN, 55,
were found in their home at Woronora in Sydney's south in 1993.

GILHAM'S brother CHRISTOPHER, 25, was also found dead in the home with 17 stab wounds.

At the time JEFFREY GILHAM told police he had stabbed his brother after discovering
that CHRISTOPHER had killed his parents and set his mother alight.

In 1995, JEFFREY pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his brother and was sentenced
to a five-year good behaviour bond.
